WTF seriously? 17mins in and I had to turn away, how is Biden looking so feeble, how is he allowing Trump to feign an air of normality and talk complete bullshit and lies without any refutation or pushback.
Once they start spinning this later it’s only going to get worse. Nevertheless this debate marks the long home stretch up to the November elections, and I intend to comment on the US political situation more from a meta perspective trying to make sense of the way that the US media is trying to make sense of their own zeitgeist. It appears to me that only Steve Schmidt has a real handle on the gravity of the moment but to whom is he speaking, how can his wisdom make a difference against a tide of incomprehensible stupidity. This is what I wonder.
Like most things in life when you break it down it’s pretty simple. In this case, we have an obviously highly competent and articulate president, whose body is showing its age but this has not stopped his string of significant achievements from having tangible impact in the present as well as the future.
On the other hand there is ex president Trump. An idiot. Or more accurately a useful idiot who is far more dangerous than the first time he fell into the presidency. His Supreme Court picks along with the established and corrupt Judges Alito and Thomas, have wrought chaos across the US and promise to do much worse if they are not stopped.
Why isn’t this a clear choice, what is wrong with this many US citizens, is this a mass psychosis event.
To me, it is incomprehensible that there will be over 70m Americans who will vote for Donald Trump and the bigotry, hate and degradation of women that he represents. Nevertheless that will happen. And it will also be likely that just a few states will decide the election by a few tens of thousands of votes. Is this really happening is it really possible? Apparently so.
I shall be trying to make sense of it all in the coming months up to the election.
