Lawrence O’Donnell is a national treasure and his perspective on US politics pulls no punches, his observations are incisive and relevant. O’Donnell has it wrong here and I want to explain why.
This is the type of non critical thinking that I will always be calling out. Having an optimistic outlook emanates from a deeper place it comes from knowing that the actions you perform are right actions. You can choose optimism and back it up with facts, but there are as many facts that support a pessimistic position. What we want is a position of sanity, and that necessarily means we want a realistic expectation of the results of action.
We should always keep in mind, and especially so when the stakes of the 2024 US election are so high, that there are always going to be four possible results. This goes for any action, momentous or trivial, there can be exactly what you expect, more than what you expect, less than what you expect, and the opposite of what you expect.
This is the right way to approach something that is controlled by an order that is not under your control. In this case there is a political order and a psychological order that responds to the lies and misinformation. I would expect Kamala Harris to win all the swing states because there are more voters who see trump as dangerous even though a very large minority appear to not care at all.
And yet we have the electoral college and vast swathes of the American population who appear to live in a cloud cuckoo fantasy land.
This election is interesting and personal to me and relevant to the work that I am going to unfold on this site. My work is about sex and how it needs a completely new paradigm for the 21st century. This knowledge came out of a journey that began in 1988 when I was 32, and she was 18. Here we are today and it doesn’t feel like 36 years, but it makes sense in that the work I am going to present here, is all new knowledge, and it’s a knowledge whose time has come.
In the coming posts I will explain the journey in a little more detail and show how the lessons learned are applicable to the most pressing problems that we face today on the planet earth.
As I write this, it appears that the unthinkable may happen, with 76% of the vote counted it looks like Trump is winning the Blue wall states, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. This is astounding and unbelievable. I was convinced of a sweeping Harris victory, because nothing else makes sense.
So we have come to one of the possibilities of this election which turns out to be the opposite of what was expected. For me I have to evaluate what this means for the knowledge I want to talk about.
The new world that Trump and Vance portend is a dark place and I contend it is born out of a deeply misogynistic attitude. Most of my work centres on women and how the subjugation of women all over the world is responsible for the dire situation that we find ourselves in.
Unfortunately and ironically, those who voted for Trump due to what I am going to postulate is a sexual frustration that is caused by the very un-masculine behaviour of the man-child emotionally crippled men on the right side of the political divide.
